Oil Paint Cross Stitch Patterns is another home-grown term here. We call them like we see them and there are many patterns that seem to fit just this description so that is what we call them. To better understand the term, it would help if you have had any experience with oil paints or at least, some experience looking at them. Many oil paints look downright funky when you look at them close up. When they are viewed from a distance however, they become the incredible works of art that people pay hundreds, thousands and even millions of dollars for. Now I do not foresee the day when people are paying millions of dollars for what we know as cross stitch patterns today, there are some very expensive murals and other similar artworks from the middle ages making the rounds for a very pretty penny. Still, that is not the point of this article and I will never get back on track if I venture down that road. The point is that many cross stitch patterns do not look great when you view them from close range. So why would anybody want something that did not look good when it was staring you straight in the face? Why is a Dali or a Picasso painting worth so much money when you have to admit, they do look kind of weird from close up? |

Since these custom cross stitch patterns are not true photographic representations of people, there seems to be some question as to the need for model releases. However, since you (and we too) can be sued for using someone's likeness without their permission, this issue does need to be addressed and you need to understand that there are times and occasions when you will actually need model releases … even for your very own custom cross stitch patterns in your very own cross stitch store online. In short, if a person is identifiable, you are going to need to have a model release form signed by the person who is identifiable … as long as it is not you. This does not mean that you can simply scratch or blank out the face and use the picture of your girlfriend, mother or anybody else. If you have their permission, than you are certainly free to use them to create your very own custom cross stitch patterns and post them in your online cross stitch store. However, if you do not have their permission, it is still liable to cause you more problems than it is worth … and more money than you are likely to earn from the custom cross stitch pattern. |

Did you know that cross stitching remains a very popular past time in much of Asia? Do you know that if only ten percent of the people in China still actively do cross stitch, (Though the estimates I have seen and the people I have talked to indicate that this may very well be a very conservative figure) that would still be roughly one-hundred and thirty million people doing cross stitch on a regular basis … in only one country that is now open to the world of Internet Marketing and has the purchasing power and disposable discretionary income to outlast these current difficult financial times. Did you know that if we could work together and get even a scant ten percent of those people to this web site, that would be over thirteen million people viewing your custom cross stitch patterns. If you figure the average numbers with any blind list your returns should be somewhere around one-half to one and one-half percent. (and if they are already clicking on links to a cross stitch site, these are probably not “blind” targets, but all interested people and potential buyers) That is an astounding thirteen thousand average sales. And again, that is just one country. If you throw in India, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, the Philippines and other Asian countries where cross stitch is also very popular, you now have an absolutely amazing potential customer base. Add the people in the Western world who still appreciate the creative works of cross stitch art and your potential customer base expands even further … but there is still more on top of that. |

When you are completing your custom cross stitch pattern you are probably going to want to mark out your Aida cloth so that you can be certain that you are quite literally working on the same page. With many of the custom cross stitch patterns that you will find on this site, you can easily get lost if your Aida cloth is not clearly marked. In order to keep things as simple as possible, we always limit our grids to one-hundred stitches or ten stitches in width and ten stitches in height. If you are working with size ten Aida cloth, you will have grids that are one square inch and ten stitches high by ten stitches wide. If you are working on size fourteen Aida cloth, you will have grids that are something less than one square inch but will still be ten stitches in height and ten stitches in width. Thus, if you are working with any of the custom cross stitch patterns from us, you will want to mark your cross stitch pattern in ten by ten stitch squares or grids. |

Huh? Who would ever make a custom cross stitch pattern from a jigsaw puzzle? Certainly nobody in their right mind would ever do anything like that would they? Well, first of all nobody ever said we were all in our right minds but that is a different story. Second of all, the patterns that are being referred to here are not literally jigsaw puzzles or even custom cross stitch patterns based on jigsaw puzzles. However, if you do make jigsaw puzzles, I do have some excellent photographs that you may be interested in. You can contact me about that if you want but that is not the point of this article. (And yes, that is a serious comment. Look at some of the patterns we have here and decide for yourself) |
